'The Big Game' by Dan Smith.
Synopsis: ‘13-year-old Oskari is sent into the cold wilderness on an ancient test of manhood. He must survive armed only with a bow and arrow. But instead, he stumbles upon an escape pod from a burning airliner: Air Force One. Terrorists have shot down the President of the United States.
The boy hunter and the world's most powerful man are suddenly the hunted, in a race against a deadly enemy.’
This is an action packed novel that was riveting to say the least. I read it in one sitting. It is not a hard read, but it is exciting and moves at a fast pace. The cultural references to ancient traditions added to the mystery of Finland and the descriptions of the scenery have made me add Finland to my must see places in the world.
Apparently this book was written after the screenplay for the movie was written. The opposite of most other movies. So for once the book tallies rather well with the movie. May I suggest you read the book as well as see the movie.
A must read.
